Common issues
+A capture path says it's disabled
Open iOS Settings → SempreNotes and review permissions. SempreNotes disables only the path whose permission is missing — microphone/speech for voice, camera or photos for the photo path, notifications for insights. Grant the permission and the path re-enables.
+Captures are blocked with a storage warning
Your device storage is critically low. SempreNotes blocks new captures rather than silently deleting old memories. Free up device space and reopen SempreNotes; capture resumes normally and nothing was lost.
+Cloud escalation fails
Check four things in order: the cloud toggle is on, a provider is selected, your API key is valid (keys can expire or be revoked at the provider), and you have network connectivity. While any of these fail, SempreNotes answers locally with a degraded label.
+Voice transcription got a name wrong
The on-device recognizer guesses at proper nouns. Use the review screen before committing — transcripts are always editable there, and fixing a name doesn't lose the capture.
+I want my data out of SempreNotes
Settings → Export produces your complete memory store as JSON. Deleting the app afterward removes all local data. There is nothing to delete on any server because no server holds your content.
+Does SempreNotes run in the background?
Only the optional insight pass, at most twice a day, scheduled by iOS — and only if you enabled insights. It evaluates your existing local memories. There is no background capture of any kind.
Privacy questions
SempreNotes stores memory locally by default and does not operate a server that receives your captures. Read the full privacy policy or write to privacy@semprenotes.com.
For App Store review
SempreNotes is intentionally user-invoked: voice, photo, Share Sheet, App Intent, cloud escalation, and notifications all require user action or explicit opt-in. The app requires no account and is fully functional offline.
