Privacy Policy

Effective June 12, 2026 · Applies to the SempreNotes iOS app

The short version: SempreNotes does not collect your data. Your memories are stored on your device and processed on your device. We operate no servers that receive your content, no analytics, no advertising, and no trackers. The only way any memory content ever leaves your device is if you turn on the optional cloud feature, supply your own API key, and approve each payload before it is sent directly to the AI provider you chose.

What SempreNotes collects

Nothing. SempreNotes has no account system, no sign-up, and no backend operated by us. We do not collect, receive, store, sell, or share your personal data or your memory content. The app contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party tracking of any kind.

Where your data lives

Everything you capture in SempreNotes — voice transcriptions, text extracted from photos, notes, and content you share into the app — is stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework. Transcription and text recognition run on-device using Apple’s Speech and Vision frameworks. Nothing is uploaded to create these memories.

The optional cloud feature

SempreNotes includes an optional, off-by-default cloud escalation feature for harder questions. If you choose to use it:

  • You provide your own API key for a supported provider (Anthropic Claude or Google Gemini). The key is stored in your device’s Keychain.
  • Requests go directly from your device to that provider. They never pass through any server of ours.
  • Each request contains only your question, up to five short text snippets from your memories, and a fixed instruction. Raw audio, images, identifiers, and your full memory store are never sent.
  • You review the exact payload before it is sent, and any answer produced this way is labeled as cloud-derived.

Content you send this way is handled under the privacy policy and account terms of the provider you selected (Anthropic or Google), and the provider may associate requests with your provider account or API key. With the cloud toggle off, no memory content leaves your device, ever.

Device permissions

SempreNotes asks for permissions only when you use the corresponding feature: microphone and speech recognition for voice capture, camera and photo library access for photos you capture or select for text extraction, and notifications for optional insight alerts. All of these are processed on-device and can be revoked anytime in iOS Settings.

Your control

You can delete any memory, delete all memories by source or date range, delete everything, or export your full memory store as JSON at any time from within the app. Memories are never auto-deleted or evicted by us. Deleting the app deletes all locally stored data.

Children

SempreNotes is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Because the app collects nothing, changes are expected to be rare.
